How resources are selected

Licensing guidance begins with primary public sources: the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Florida Legislature and Administrative Code, and the official local licensing authority when a county regulates child care locally. Commercial summaries are not treated as controlling authority.

How information is reviewed

  1. Confirm that the source is controlled by the responsible public agency.
  2. Check that the link opens and still addresses the setting or county described.
  3. Record a review date next to the resource or tool that uses it.
  4. Use cautious plain language and link visitors back to the official source.
  5. Correct or remove guidance when the controlling source changes.

What this site does not do

It does not issue licenses, determine eligibility, provide legal advice, guarantee approval, or replace a conversation with the responsible licensing authority. Requirements can change and may depend on facts not collected by this website.

Corrections

When you report an error, include the page, county or care setting, and the official source showing the change. We review corrections against the controlling source before updating the guide.
